Among those present were the Governor and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mohd. Fazal and Mr. Sushilkumar Shinde, respectively, the Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Arun Shourie and the Chief Post-Master General of Maharashtra and Goa, Mrs. Noorjehan and Mr. Ratan N. Tata. Mr. Tata welcomed the gathering, while Mr. Soli J. Sorabjee, Trustee and also the then Attorney-General of India, proposed the vote of thanks.
